IDD cards

  • >> How to save on keystrokes
    • When making a phone call using an IDD card, you typically have to key in about 30 digits - 10 for card number, 10 for PIN number, and the remaining for destination number. Too troublesome?
      Here's a tip: create a shortcut from the Outlook Client on your desktop or from your device's Contact list, and save yourself a few keystrokes in future. Click here to find out how.

Memory & storage

  • >> How to find space in program memory
    • First, you would want to stop the programs you are currently not using.Go to Start > Settings > System tab > Memory > Running Programs tab. Close any open windows or messages and return the program to list view.
  • >> How to clear memory
    • To clear memory, you have two options: you can perform a soft reset or a full reset. A soft reset is similar to restarting your desktop; it causes the device to restart and readjust its memory allocation. Unsaved data in open windows, however, may be lost. A full reset entails losing all data and any software you have installed. As such, you are advised to backup all your data to a PC via ActiveSync prior to performing a full reset.
  • >> How to find space in storage memory
  • 1. Move your data to an MMC or SD storage card.
    • Go to Start > Programs > File Explorer. Tap and hold the file that you want to move, then tap on Cut in the pop-up menu. Browse to the My Documents folder in the storage card folder; then tap on Edit, then Paste. When using Notes, Pocket Word, or Pocket Excel, you can also move files by first opening them, and then tapping on Tools or Edit, and then on Rename/Move.
    • Move email attachments. In Inbox, go to Tools > Options > Storage tab. Then check the "Store attachments on storage card" box.
    • Set programs such as Notes, Pocket Word, and Pocket Excel to automatically save new items into the storage card. Within the program, go to Tools and then Options.
  • 2. Delete unnecessary files.
    • Go to Start > Programs > File Explorer. Tap on (to delete) and hold the file that you want to move, then tap on Cut in the pop-up menu. Browse to the My Documents folder in the storage card folder; then tap on Edit, then Paste. When using Notes, Pocket Word, or Pocket Excel, you can also move files by first opening them, and then tapping on Tools or Edit, and then on Rename/Move.
    • Similarly, delete files and clear history in Internet Explorer. Go to Start > Internet Explorer > Tools > Options > Delete Files and Clear History.
  • 3. Remove programs you no longer use.
    • Go to Start > Settings > System tab > Remove Programs. Select the program you want to remove and then tap on Remove.

Screen

  • >> What to do if the screen freezes or responds slowly
    • Go to Start > Internet Explorer > Options > Advanced tab. Click on the "ok" bubble at the top right corner of the screen. This should get the blank or frozen screen back to normal.
    • Reset the device and clear memory.
