Take the express lane with Push email

Access your emails on your Atom device or other Windows Mobile 5.0-equipped device. With Push email, you receive your corporate emails on your Atom device automatically, whenever it arrives on the Exchange Server, keeping you in the loop always.

To set up Push email, you'll need the following:

  • Any of the Atom series devices that are push email enabled.
  • Confirmation that your Exchange Server 2003 has Service Pack 2 enabled.
  • Server name where your Microsoft Exchange account is located.
  • If your server requires an encrypted (SSL) connection, a valid device root certificate to authenticate your device client will be required.
  • The Exchange User name, Password, and Domain of the Exchange account.

Steps

  • To begin, back up your personal data by syncing with your PC.
  • Reset your PC and Atom device and shut off all active applications.
  • Install a root certificate to your Atom device obtained from your Exchange Administrator.
  • Add a new server source in your ActiveSync on your Atom device.
  • To do this, start ActiveSync, select 'Add Server Source' and input your Exchange server information.
  • Within 'Options', select the new sync category 'Exchange Server' and configure the items to be synced.
  • For example, Contacts, Calendar, E-mail, Tasks. You can now set up your push schedule.
  • In order for your selected items to arrive when sent to your Exchange server, please ensure that 'As items arrive' is selected within the ActiveSync settings.

A data connection, such as GPRS or EDGE, will be required in order for Push email to function. Please check with your mobile operator for additional details. The Microsoft Windows Mobile 5.0 Messaging and Security Feature Pack for Push mail optimizes mail formats and attachments to help manage the GPRS data costs. Do note that it uses approximately 1.5MB (weekdays for working hours) to 3MB (24/7 for 7 days a week) in GPRS data traffic to keep a permanent connection between server and your Atom device. Please ensure you select the most suitable mobile operator plan accordingly.
